HOW TO FIX Notifications icons aren't showing in the status bar or lock screen | Solved

PSA: If you have a Huawei phone and notifications icons aren't showing in the status bar or lock screen, disable Smart Notifications.

I've had this problem for a really long time and I finally figured how to fix it. For some reason it treats almost all non-stock app as Low-importance regardless if you set the app to high priority notifications in the settings.

You can disable it in: Settings>Apps&Notifications>Notification&StatusBar>Smart Notification

Hope this can help a few fellow Huawei phone owners, as this bugged me for quite a while now.
